fareclass reshuffle
There is something in the bushes boys and girls ... CX has reshuffeled an awful lot of fare classes in their recently published fare set, at least it looks that way from where I am standing. I am trying to find out if this is just Asia or if other destinations notice that too. GB: Canada??
E.g.
discounted economy to US: most common ticket was M, now all moved to K and L, M is more expensive now. Lots of AA connections are gone (or not yet loaded?)
discounted economy to EU: usually K,M fares. new lowest fare for all is "V". V is only for CX destionals.
S fares have virtually disappeared from screens.
business class to EU: cheapest was D, with "I" for occasional promotions. D is now 30% more expensive, "I" taking it's place.
FRA: all Y fares going thru Frankfurt connecting to LH flights suddenly switched to "K". Used to be all "M" - actually M still there with no visible difference to K. CX seems to have greatly expanded its co-operation with LH. There are hundreds of European destinations connecting through FRA not LHR listed with the online ticketing sites like zuji.com.
I have noticed some reshuffling at BA and QF too, but I still can't make much sense of it. It looks like oneworld-wide arrangements, but not all of them. The V/S/ M/L switch on some routes looks like its got something to do with mileage accrual on BAEC ?? I hope this is not a prelude to further mileage earning opportunities.

Canada has always had their own codes... ie K and L has been around for a long time. I haven't seen an M fare for a while. Ex-UK fares were at one time M, K, L and lowest V. They still are.
Ex-SIN/BKK fares are similar to what you're noticing in TPE. Lowest fares no-miles are S, N, O. Mileage fares start at V, and go up to H.
I don't see B class much anymore.
Business Class ex-BKK has always been "I" with "D" going for much more.
Basically CX is just making it almost impossible for AAdvantage members to earn fares on anything else other than H. Or else they might be just enticing AA members to perhaps join Asiamiles?
