Using CX miles for BA, AA, etc upgrades?

If I am flying BA transatlantic ORD-LHR return on a deep discount economy ticket, can I use 45K Asia Miles to upgrade to Club World? Or is there a minimum econ. BA fare I need to purchase in order to use the CX upgrade?

What about AA? Any fare works?

Thanks in advance!

On BA, it must be E-Ticket and Return Upgrade.
Check you sub class. Most likely you can't upgrade.

I think AA Upgrades are NO longer available.

I actually find the upgrade awards are pretty lame and reallly not worth it (considering the full award is not that much)

Uh...no.. to AA upgrades. YES you can upgrade on AA tickets.

Upgrade awards are available on American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair.

Upgrade award tickets on British Airways are now possible with just 50% of the Economy Class round-trip required mileage. Choose from an Economy Class (World Traveller) to Premium Economy Class (World Traveller Plus) upgrade OR Premium Economy Class (World Traveller Plus) to Business Class (Club World) upgrade.

Thanks Tclin! So that clears up my AA upgrade uncertainty.

I serched the Asia Miles website, but can't seem to find any mention of what BA fare sub-classes are eligible for upgrades. Does anyone know? Thanks so much!

From the MPO Page:

Airline Class (Mileage Accrual) Eligible subclasses Effective Date
British Airways Economy Class (50%) K, L, M, R 5 April 2004

I think these are the only classes you can claim miles as well as UPGRADE on.
You might want to double check with Asia Miles.
