Ticket Deadlines for Award

Has CX changed the policy of ticketing deadlines for Award tickets and Upgrade Awards?

I thought before it was 1 month before the travel date.

But I just discovered in my MPO Personal Itineary, that the ticketing deadline = 1 month from the date I requested the reservation. Also it is still under WL at the moment?

For Asiamiles, it is generally up to 2 weeks prior to departure. They will insist that you make up your mind whether you want to hold the reservation or not even though your reservations may still be waitlisted! Each situation is different - depending on whether it is an upgrade or an award. Even for us MPC members, flights have been known NOT to clear especially for upgrade awards for nominees.

I'm getting told 1 month from reservation. I don't seem to be having aproblem calling after one month and asking them just to hold it for another month if it is on CX, but it is becoming a problem on other airlines.

This is not good, because I have a waitlist for a companion F award HKG-LHR-HKG around Xmas on CX and a confirmed award reservation on BA. I really, really do not want to travel on BA, but I can't just ticket the BA because if I do I can only subsequently use the miles for aother BA flight.

This is really really annoying.

On the other hand, I think some of the MPO agents might not know these new deadlines very well. Back in mid-June, I booked two J award tickets for HKG-NRT-HKG travelling in mid-October. Both tickets had availability and were confirmed immediately. However, the ticketing deadline is still listed as 27 Sep 6:00pm, so I STILL have not issued the awards.

I think they must've changed the rule recently, as they said if youryour flight is confirmed it must be issued within 1 Month.

I also have the dilema about BA/CX.

i have a confirmed SIN-SYD-SIN on BA
But I actually want a ticket that is HKG-SYD-HKG on CX which is on WL at the moment

Actually, I was already aware of this rule when they first announced (I think it was way back at the beginning of the year, near February?). When I booked my NRT tickets, I was fully expecting them to request I issue the tickets within one month, but when they gave the ticketing dealine as 27 Sep, who's to argue?
