Cathay to India w/a stopover?
Hi all. Newbie looking for some advice.
I'm an American Airlines flier and will probably be going from the San Francisco area to India in November. From reading some other threads I get the sense that it might make sense to fly Cathay and stop over somewhere in Asia.
Thoughts, advice, suggestions? Package tours? Reasonable fares?
ps. Please feel free to private mail me, since I'm not sure I've set up my "new posting notification" properly.
pps. What is the Cathay Cybertraveler all about? I'm happy to sign up but would like to know if there's a "right" way (ie. bonus miles) to do so...
Thank you!

Hi KSinNYC,
The SFO-HKG flight arrives HKG early in the morning and the Bombay flight is a little after 2 pm. That is one short stopover possibility in HKG to freshen up, see a bit of HK etc. But the HKG-BOM flight is via BKK and you can't
get off the plane for 1-1.5 hours at BKK. So you could think of a BKK stopover too. Of course stopping for longer in HK itself is a good idea too.
By the way HKG-DEL is a direct flight so you can keep that in mind depending on where in India you want to go.
P.s. I don't think you asked about tours etc. in India so that's it from me for now.

If you are using a standard AAdvantage award, I understand that overseas stopovers are now limited to the "1st or last" international gateway (but not both). This would appear to eliminate the BKK stopover option and force you into HKG only.
