bunk beds on CX

not sure if similar pics have been posted before, but these apparently are bunk beds for FAs on a CX 747.

image is © Apple Daily -- taken from an article today regarding possible legal action by CX FAs due to insufficient time to rest on longhaul flights.

insufficient crew rest on long haul flights? i think the minimum rest time is mentioned in their manuals, but i think the ISM can adjust this depending on the loads....for example, on the full HKG/LHR flight, crew rest may be reduced by 1/2 hour or so, whereas on a light load, rest may be increased.

again, have to check this out with my friend

there is apparently a fixed rule -- x hours rest for y hours of work.

however, staffing on the new CX830/831 and other super long haul routes is apparently so finely cut that even minor delays in take off or en route would violate this rule.

the article also mentions dissatisfaction re: the FA resting environment -- how lights can't be turned on so they cannot even read a magazine to relax, how it's difficult to fall asleep -- and comparisons are drawn with the resting area for pilots, a much more luxurious setting with a proper bed, tv, etc.
