How elite is HKG LAX return in terms of loading.

How long is a piece of string... you may get more luck by giving a specific date so that those of us with an ExpertFlyer account can give you the particular loading to take a view.
My view, as an occasional passenger on this route, and a regular passenger on CX longhauls is: Very elite heavy, so unless you are a CX Diamond (maybe CX Gold) your chances of an upgrade aren't that high as the flights often sell out to J0 (i.e. full business class) days before the actual flight, so then you rely on last minute cancellations or changes to create you any space for an opup.

As a Gold I never got upgraded once on any route I took for the whole year. Around 30 sectors. So now Im Silver and not going to prioritise Cathay. Seemed to be a lot of Diamonds and many of those werent upgraded. Originally Posted by CXFlyerBoy

As a GO, I get op-ups quite frequently, about 8~10 times per year. But very route-specific, mostly between Taiwan and HKG or between TPE and Japan. I have never received any op-ups on long-distance flights.
