Cathay App

Hi everyone,
I have some upcoming flights on CX, so I downloaded the Cathay app on my phone (Android) and also on my IPad.
I am not an Asiamiles member and don’t intend to be. Flights will be credited to Qantas where I am OWE.
The apps both on the phone and IPads allow me to add my trips without signing up for Asiamiles.
However, after 1 or 2 days, the trios disappear and I reloaded them, and they disappear again after 1 or 2 days.
Is there anyway to keep them in the apps until the flights are over?
I don’t want to sign up for Asiamiles and load these trips in the app in case my QF FF number gets replaced by a status less Asiamiles number.
Other airlines such as BA allow me to track my bookings with them without signing up with them and logging into their apps until the flights are over.
E.g. on BA, I can get mobile boarding pass and use it to board and for lounge access.
If my bookings keep disappearing from the CX app, then possibly they might disappear at an inconvenient moment, eg at boarding, when I need to scan the mobile boarding pass.

It won't. If only changing to Cathay FFP post 14/11/2025 was that easy Changing FFP# [2025]

If you need further assurance, my wife is a JAL OWS, CX nobody. I'm looking at her App. Not only am I seeing all the bookings which involve her AM number at some point, I'm seeing a CX-operated booking I redeemed with Qatar Avios and added her JL OWS number in during passenger details, so originally it does not appear in CX app. I added it a week ago to look at some time change and a) it's still there and b) I can still select seats for her (meaning, her non-CX status did not get replaced).

Same for a CI paid booking on CX (disruption rebooking) that I added her JL number for.

IMHO it is best not to use the CX app unless you are crediting the avios to CX. The app tends to be very sticky and, in my case, even if I re-install it, remembers that I used to have a CX number and creates me a lot of additional problems.

Yes, it is annoying not to have the reservations in an app, but if you use the link from the confirmation email, it opens in the browser with all the facilities of the app. I sometimes keep an eye in reservations, in case the change the plane and seats or add the function to reserve a meal, and for that I just use the link from the email and close the browser when done. This is for the best way that I found to ensure that my QR OWE rights (first lounge, group 1 boarding etc.) are protected and the avios and tier points duly credited to QR.

I have a CX (and hence Asiamiles) account.

I recently booked CX flights online (web) while logged in and added my BA executive club number. Using the browser or the iOS app (also logged in to my Cathay account) correctly shows all my flights and the BA number.

I do this once a year and have never had a problem. Nothing ever gets credited to Cathay, and the avios (and tier points) always credit correctly to BA.

Thanks everyone.
Well, I don't see the point of enrolling in Asia Miles just to use the App and not ever crediting flights to Asia Miles.
Can CX mobile boarding passes be saved to Google Wallet?
If so, perhaps I could load my trips just when check-in opens, check-in with the app and save the boarding pass to Google Wallet.
In this way, even if the trip disappears by the time boarding is called, I have the boarding pass in Google Wallet.
On QF, even if I am travelling international (hand luggage only), I can get the mobile boarding pass issued if my travel documents do not need to be checked.
So I can simply just walk through passport control and security and straight to the lounge.

I'm not sure about Google Wallet because my primary driver is iOS, but can't you just send mobile boarding passes to yourself and save the screenshots?

I don't think there is any point.

At one time, I was investigating moving my loyalty (scheme) from BA to Cathay to match the fact I've moved my long-haul loyalty (buying tickets!) from BA to Cathay 😁

However, I never bothered and still credit everything to BA. I log in to Cathay for convenience. If I didn't have an account already, I also wouldn't bother.

(It used to be that if you were logged in, you'd get a 24 hour cancellation possibility. Now, the T&Cs are very clear in that you have to associate your Cathay FF number in the booking at the time it's made.)

i think you’re right. I thought if I logged in and entered my partner FFP, I might still get free 24 hour cancel, but doesn’t look like that is the case anymore https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...cellation.html
