Interline rules for Cathay and HK Express

Interline rules for Cathay and HK Express
Hi folks. I booked a trip that has CX on the 1st leg and HK Express on the 2nd leg where I'd be taking my road bike as a special luggage. I've already contacted CX and it's been noted, but just got a call from them saying I need to confirm the same with HK Express. HK Express are then telling me it's up to CX which confuses me. Anyone know what I should be doing or assume that the interline agreement will mean that when my bag is passed through HK that it'll make it onto the next flght. Any advice is appreciated.

i think - i think if the first flight is accepted , it would normally accepted by the next and next next airline , it is not normal to reject something unless that is really a very obvious problem stuff , but the first airline dont want to promise you because they dont know if the other airline may suddenly or accidenly did something crazy.
as long as you asked the second airline that said it is up to the first airline , which mean they dont usually reject things from other airline's transit. then you should be alright.

I can't imagine any scenario where:
1. OP can buy a CX codeshare on UO without connecting to CX
2. CX is not the MSC and needs to behave as such
CX will definitely check the bike in on the outbound but I don't see how UO doesn't have to honour CX baggage allowances check the bike in on the inbound as well?

Let me add my 2cents without experience for special luggage.
UO is a LCC and the rules for non-CX OWE or J pax connecting to/from UO (even with CX codeshare) have not been generous.
Let's assume that you have a return ticket from Japan with a UO regional segment.
My guess is that they will check-through your bike from Japan. Hopefully you won't have to pay the UO special bag fee.
I would be much more doubtful on the return. UO can check it though but might require to pay their fee. My (poor) experience with UO is that they try to milk you anyway they can.
Personally I would not worry about interlining bags on a CX ticket, but the fee to be paid is the only issue. Arrive early at the airport.

Thanks for all the comments. Leg is CX->UO and the return is JL->CX so not worried about the return leg.
Worst case I'll get a call in HK during my transit and will have to deal with it at that point in time. Seems pretty poor for CX to sell it as a CX flight but asking the customer to reach out to the operating carrier to confirm. Will report back after the trip!

Just wanted to report back that there were no issues with the bike transiting through HK and onto UO flight.
On a separate note, the lounge dragons didn't let me into the lounge since I didn't come into HK on business or first, regardless of whether i had booked the UO flight under a CX marketed flight. Would have been nice to have known that when i booked.
