G2 is J/OWS, and G3 is W/OWR? So non OWE in J boards with OWR in Y? So the point is if flying J, better be OWE...

Was at PVG and saw they changed from having four queues (F, J, PEY, Y) to two queues (Group 1-3, Group 4-7).
Just why…… https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bafabaeec.jpeg |

They hire the MT from BA? lol

I don't mind the concept of having two queues – the first being a premium queue based on higher travel class (first/business) and frequent flyer status (Diamond/Gold), and the second for lower travel classes / status-holders and perhaps also based on seating position) – this strikes me as a sensible way to manage queueing at the departure gate. A bunch of premium flyers stand here, the rest over there. That would be different to the order in which priority boarding calls are made: Group 1, then 2, then 3 etc?
It’s a bit different in HKG where group 2-3 share one queue. When staff yelled group 2, most passengers were confused, with group 3 passengers not sure if they should step aside, and group 2 passengers not sure if they should overtake the one in front. Ends up group 2 passengers at the end of queue being overtaken because some passengers who were not in the queue just jumped to the front. |
Don't the barding pass scanners at the gate automagically reject people who are not in the correct boarding group?

I'd agree. Seeing Qantas not long ago trial and implement group boarding here, it comes down to 'communication' – including passenger education – partnered with 'enforcement'. Making best use of gate layout and space, signage and announcements – including one at the front to clearly explain the process before it all starts – all play a part. Use of electric cattle prods optional.

We should reflect our feedback to CX as much as possible though my past experience sort of suggests CX has stopped responding to "Suggestions"... |

I wish I knew why CX decided to change this from the trial. What’s the point of the trial anyways if changes are made to cause additional problems......

Quick Question: Do they kick you out of the line completely or do they manually scan you in (e.g. I'm group 3 trying to board during group 2 boarding)
