Cancellation rules

Hi all,

asking on behalf of a colleague.

She has a business essential fare from LHR - HKG, but may need to cancel the flight 12 hours before departure. In this case, is the penalty just the 200 GBP or are there special rules given how close it is to departure?

Thank you

I don't think that CX has a strict "timing" for cancellations, as opposed to some airlines such as QR. 12h should be fine.

Normally, if the ticket doesnt say anything to the contrary, you can cancel up to the scheduled departure time. The closest I ever cancelled a ticker (not CX though) was approx 1h pre departure.

Im not sure how close-in you can actually cancel, i.e. if the flight is already closed but is still pre departure time, can you still cancel or are you deemed a no-show at this point?

12h should definitely be fine but if your friend is already checked in, she will usually have to cancel the checkin first.
