Cancelled Flight - Rebooking Problems

I’ve booked DUB-LHR-HKG with CX and the BA sector just got cancelled.

Itinerary booked:
27 Nov 2024
BA837 DUB-LHR - Class M
CX256 LHR-HKG - Class E

The BA sector was rebooked onto BA827 which arrives at 19:15 which doesn’t meet MCT for CX256. Online portal says it’s not actually ticketed and to call them.

Manage my booking is only showing a refund option, call centre cannot ticket any other flight combinations which they are currently selling online.

Proposed revised flights:
BA835 - CX238
BA835 - CX250
BA845 - CX238

Call centre said no to all of the above because the system “is unable to ticket those flights”.

They said they might be able to re-ticket into a higher fare class for the CX sector but I have to cover fare differences. They haven’t given me any alternatives with this option yet. Is this normal if I’m rebooking as a result of the cancellation?

Anyone have experience with this and have any advice?

There's a decent chance you'll see further schedule changes during the five months between now and your flight.
