This post made me chuckle. I received a message overnight from CX:
"Your gastronomic journey starts in 3 days. You can enjoy some of the most exquisite dining experiences Hong Kong has to offer, even at 30,000 feet above ground. Relish the craftsmanship served by renowned restaurants in Hong Kong, including Michelin-starred restaurants Louise and Duddell’s on your flight by reserving your inflight dining ahead of time. Taste the difference in the details." There's a clickable button "Start your culinary journey now" but when you click, it just leads you to the standard Manage Booking page that shows I'm currently having the Standard Meal, with the usual alternative dietary options (Vegetarian, Lacto-Ovo, Moslem, etc.) to choose from. Am I missing something or is there supposed to be more? |

Seems those 3 dishes were particularly well received by pax so CX selected them as "signature" to be offered throughout the year. As the message from CX mentioned Duddell's as well, I guess 3. & 4. are dishes from Duddell's. So out of the 8 meals, they are equally divided into 4 categories: Vegetarian / Duddell's / lighter noodle or rice soup / Louise |
#5 Wonton noodle soup is already a regular on CX medium haul routes:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/36047695-post30.html Credit to FT user Carfield for organizing useful datapoint w.r.t. on/b catering Given that CX is Hong Kong's flag carrier, increasing HK / Chinese catering options should make sense! PS pre-select up to 10 days in advance? Takes that long to process a pre-selected meal? PPS no pre-select meal option for an AU>HK flight dep. half a week shy of July... (edit: my apologies, seems like pre-select is only available for select flights departing from HKG o/a July) |

It is probably the most tender piece of fish I've had on a plane. Arguably better handled than some seafood restaurants in Sai Kung. |

Yes, No.6 was part of the "all-day menu" back in December.

My route is none of these. Why send me an email to "select my culinary delight" when it's not available? Such clever IT...

Old thread :) But flying biz for the first time in a long time, what do y'all recommend?
Wonton noodle with choy sum Braised beef cheek mixed vegetables and creamy Parmesan grits Stir fried chicken and abalone mushroom with truffled oyster sauce kai lan, carrot and steamed jasmine rice Roast pork tenderloin with rosemary lemon jus braised red cabbage, green beans and potato cheese gratin Crumbed vegetable lasagne spinach and sundried tomato pesto sauce Classic beef burger Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, pickled onions and zucchini on a toasted brioche bun with chunky fries My first choice would have been the wonton as I'd want Chinese food going into HKG, but I feel like I'd be hungry afterwards and I've heard mixed things about that dish. After that maybe the burger? Everything else doesn't sound that great to me for flying into HKG. If I had to pick a 3rd and 4th option it'd be the lasanga then the beef cheek. |

Good to know, thanks! I'll be doing the chicken or lasagna then and do the opposite on the flight back.
