Changing Status between transit flights

I have a flight coming up where it is two separate flights to get to the destination (ie a transit).

After the first flight, there is enough points for a status change. If the transit is short, will both flights process as the same time, or will it process one, change status and then process the second? Trying to maximise accrual next level up.

If transit point is HKG on CX then Wing/Pier can redo your FFP.

I think it would take at least one day for the system to update.

I read your question differently than the responses above...I think you're asking about whether status points are deposited in batches or carefully, one by one for status change purposes?

In my experience there is nothing guaranteed with CX tech. But more likely than not, your flights if close/same day will post their relevant status points a few days later at the same time, and your status will be upgraded based on all of it at the end of whatever day it posts. That is to say, you will most likely NOT get the result you want: to be bumped up a tier level due to the first flight, and then the miles from the second flight will accrue to the next earning tier.

Instead, my bet is you will get all miles/status points deposited simultaneously, and then bumped up to the higher tier at the end of whatever day it is they post together, so you will "lose" some status points earnings potential.

Maybe you can strip your MPC# off your second flight while transiting. Not sure if they'll let you do that or if feasible but others here probably know. So you have your number on the first flight, and strip from the second, and claim back the second flight after you get your status upgrade. You might not like not having status on board that flight but I think it's the only way I can think of to guarantee the outcome you want.

QRC3288 - yes, I was asking what you read. I dont mind not having status on the second flight, the greater goal is a better outcome.

Im thinking it may be best to remove status all together from both legs in case I dont have the time to get them to remove for the second leg as the transit is quite short.

Usually the points get credited at the same time if both flights are on the same ticket and transiting.

I would suggest the same, removing your frequent flyer number from the booking altogether first. If your flying PEY/Econ, then manually show your membership card at check-in, lounge, boarding gate so you can still enjoy the ground privileges.

After you've flown on the flights, submit the claim for your first flight and wait for that to clear. Once the points are credited and your tier upgraded, do the same for the 2nd flight so it can be earned under your new tier.
