https://loyaltylobby.com/2019/04/15/...matching-scam/ (Hilton isn't the only company whose status are being told on TB, obviously) surely this must be some sort of fraudulent behaviour, they can't possibly honour such status if they find out can they? sucks for the guys who earn(ed) their status the hard, legit way... |
CX OWE greetings are definitely welcoming. They call you by your last name and officially welcome you onboard. I love seeing others wondering why they didn't get a welcome.
Besides the welcome, I don't recall any special services like getting my food ordered first or delivered first. On my flight last week, the ISM actually remembered my name as I was deplaning. |

woah people can just buy status off Taobao?
how does that work? seems pretty daft! https://www.stheadline.com/voice-ant...AD%90%E9%86%AC |
Speak too soon
I guess I speak too soon and the really inconsistent and frankly bad London based crews break my streak! The IFM did her minimal and only greeted the diamond members before takeoff! My meal order was not taken first too and I asked the F/A specifically if he saw my Emerald status! He said that it was listed! It was not a big deal since it’s a red eye flight and I preordered my main course! However I was denied the request for cheese, fruit and cake for desserts! I only got cheese and opera cake!

Not just airline status - local HK media previously reported that people were selling supplementary cards of the AMEX Centurion on Carousell (the AMEX Centurion would be a China-issued one, as the report indicates that HK-based AMEX staff are a lot more stringent with their checks).
https://www.stheadline.com/voice-ant...AD%90%E9%86%AC what!? are these real cards which can be legitimately used, or fake cards outright? |

Out of curiosity (haven't actually flown on other OW airlines for a while) - how are OWE's treated on say BA economy/PE? Presumably not the same vis-a-vis OWE on CX.
I'm a BA Gold (OWE) and even on cash business tickets costing £4k/US$5k+ I have not so much as gotten a greeting on board, nor have had my food order taken first. On my several PE and Y flights, no greeting or even an offer of a glass of wine or champagne. I did get an upgrade from PE to J once. |
I don't think I've ever seen anyone being greeted in ET. Granted, I was sitting in the exit row, so there's a limited sample size.
But BA SH is just a shuttle bus, so I can't complain when my O class return to NCE costs £90. |
Not sure whats the big.deal about greetings but for sure you get access to a very nice lounge, prioritty boarding, preferential seating when on cx..unlike QR, the other ow carrier worth a menton, where you need to be in J to get any reasonable returns on loyalty. Having flown CX a lot in the last few months, i can say they do a very good job of managing "western" professionalism with Asian warmth. Jl/MH are not even close. UL is another very good way to fly within Asia in J.

For me, certain very small things about the greeting can stretch a long way. Usually the person serving me is one of two people. I don't like using the call button as on long flights, it's an opportunity to go for a walk when I would like something. When I step into the galley, they recognise me usually and often end the request with 'you're in seat x correct' followed sometimes with the name. Do I get this with BA? Nope |

I am not OWE but QR gold travelling more on CX though. I find CX or QR serve their own members much better when travelling on their own metal than other one world elites, which is pretty normal. |
AS OWE in J 2 days ago and ISM didn’t do any greetings to anyone. Nor was there any status recognition to anyone.
In fact, ISM herself forgot my drinks while serving food, and I had to remind the other pursuers again. They also rarely go through the aisle now — had to use the call button more often. Flew QR back in March in Y with OWE and the crew still did greetings. |

I noticed this too, but thankfully they still respond quickly and politely when the button is pressed. I've been ignored when the button is pressed on other airlines.
I complained about the incident and CX simply disregarded it. |

One time (I was sitting on the last row of Y due to last minute booking on a full flight) the cabin crew made some passing comments (literally) behind my back in mandarin when I asked for water and took so long to deliver I had to press the bell again.
