Interlining question
Hello everyone.
I was lucky to win one of the 'world of winners' tickets to HKG earlier in the year but plans have changed so i'm going to meet up with family in Japan instead.
The winning ticket came with 2 pieces of luggage included,
I've booked a separate flight to Japan with HK Express and then i booked a reward flight with avios on the return. ( no avios flights available for the entire return trip)
So, can I have Cathay interline 1 suitcase from Japan, i will then meet up with relatives in HKG, do some shopping and then check in another suitcase when i return to the airport?
Or will this mess up and confuse the system?
Thanks in advance

Sorry, but your traveling plans are confusing.
It seems that you are flying from somewhere, like London if based on your profile.
It seems that your question is what will CX do on two separate tickets; Japan-HKG (avios award) then a few hours later HKG-London on the "world of winners" ticket.
On the first leg (avios) you are allowed 1 bag. But as OW saphire (BAEC silver) you should get an extra bag. On the 2nd leg two bags.
You wish to check-through your first bag from Japan to London and then add one when in HKG.
Am I right?

So the ticket I won is LHR - HKG, this includes 2 bags each way.
I've no status with any airline since covid.
But yes, 1 bag from Japan via the avios flight but then check in another bag when I'm going from HKG back to LHR.
As I'm asking them to interline the first bag from Japan all the way to LHR, was wondering if this was possible/doable.

Not sure how long your flight connection between your JPN-HKG, HKG-LHR flights
If the connection time is under 24 hours, you can check-thru the bag all othe way to LHR. (Generally, CX can check thru bags on two CX-CX tickets.)
During your connection time in HK, you can enter HK, and also check-in another bag.
(If for some reason, the CX ground staff can't check you thru, you can pick up your bag and check in your bag at departure)
