Baggage allowances for Oneworld status
I was checking what baggage allowances I would get for long haul international flights under the Economy Essential class. Normally it states 2 x 23KG checked bags and for Oneworld Sapphire it states "1 additional bag (up to a maximum of 2)". Is my understanding correct that Oneworld sapphire has no baggage benefit whatsoever for Economy / premium economy flying CX? What is even more confusing is that CX Gold (Sapphire equivalent) seem to be able to bring 3 bags?

OWS only grants an extra bag for Economy Light, since it's the only fare brand that offers one bag for the ticketed allowance.
You get one extra bag as a CX Gold regardless of fare brand. While CX Gold is technically equivalent to OWS, CX chooses to be more generous to their own elites in this context. It's a fairly common industry practice.
