Ex-CAN Flight Question

Hi there, I am just getting back on some traveling. I have to get from Guangzhou to Seoul in October, trying to stick with CX mostly because of the Schedule and need the points.
Since they have some "ferry" flight on the way back, would that be trouble if I skip those and go home straight? Can I just tag my luggage to HKG?

What are you trying to book? CAN-x/HKG-ICN-x/HKG-CAN or PFT-x/HKG-ICN-x/HKG-PFT? I don't think the latter is bookable yet as a through ticket (happy to be proven wrong), although you can buy HKG-ICN-HKG and the ferry tickets separately from Chu Kong. Booking CAN-x/HKG-ICN-x/HKG seems a lot more expensive

I do not recommend throwing away HKG-CAN, as CX may not let you short-check the bag to HKG on your way back (agent discretion). If you have to, make sure to have an overnight transit and claim you are staying at a hotel in HKG. Even then, if you try to go to Chu Kong's counter for the HKG-PFT ferry, I don't know if they will find out that you had a ticket to CAN. I don't think so, but I am not 100% sure.

If you book PFT-x/HKG-ICN-x/HKG-PFT, I don't think they will let you short-check the bag to HKG. You cannot check-in for HKG-PFT landside, so it becomes clear you are throwing away HKG-PFT.

PS: PFT is Pazhou Port.

Thank you so much!! Currently Looking at PFT-HKG-ICN/ ICN-HKG-PFT.

Since the location (close to canton fair) and time is just fit in the schedule, while the return leg CX419 only land HKG 2300, with the connecting ferry 8 hours later...

Do you have to take CX419? The first flight to CAN is CX982, departing at 7:55am. The first ferry to PFT is 3A170, departing at 8:15am. In both cases, the connection will be ~9 hours later.

What I am not sure is whether an overnight air-to-sea transfer is allowed. https://www.hongkongairport.com/iwov...ferries_en.pdf says, for transferring at HKG to Mainland, the arrival flight needs to be on the same day. I recall seeing for sea-to-air transfer, pax on the last ferry can transfer to flights next day morning (although this also contradicts with this pdf file), but this may be an arrangement for those flights in the small hours.

Say, if you take CX419 and transfer to CX988 (dep. 20:10), I think you have a good case asking the bag to be short-checked to HKG, though again I cannot make any guarantees.
