Online changes and Fare Classes

Hi

Does anyone have any inputs to my predicament.

I have an existing fare booked in D. If i were to make flight time change online does it keep the original fare class, or will it automatically pick the lowest fare class available like what it does on their website.

I have a D fare booked, and there are P fares available on that day and would like to keep it at D. Am worried if i make the change online it'll change to the lowest which is P.

You have been booked in D with a fare type D*******. Each fare type (the ******) can have different conditions for changes.
If D is still available, you will be rebooked in D with the same type and have to pay a change fee (if any) and possibly a fare difference, if positive.
But if D is not available anymore, they can reissue the ticket in a higher fare class, usually leading to a stiff repricing.

I believe, for the most part, CX does not allow one to downgrade a fare when making a change, so changing a D class ticket to a P one is extremely unlikely. Fare rules do vary, so I cannot be 100% certain, though.

thanks!

I did a dummy change where it offers a refund so I was worried that it was a cheaper fare class
