NZ availability with AsiaMiles

Wondering if anyone can help. Need to book a domestic NZ flight and looks like redeeming via AsiaMiles might be decent value if possible. However these can't be booked online and I'd be transferring Amex MR. Is there a reliable way to check availability through another airline or ExpertFlyer?

Any pitfalls to know about when transferring MR to AsiaMiles...? Issues with redemptions from otherwise inactive accounts...? And if booking via the email form, do the miles need to be in the account before sumbitting or can I transfer after hearing back...?

Many thanks.

I don't think you could redeem any NZ domestic flights
"Flight redemption are only available for flights marketed and operated between Hong Kong and Auckland by Air New Zealand."

New Zealand is small. From where to where? Jetstar fly some routes in NZ.
Air NZ is know for *not* releasing many awards to partner ffp's.

TK is a partner of Air NZ (Star Alliance)

Thanks. Looking at AKL-CHC, and the JQ flights aren't well timed for our purposes.

TK's in there as a joke - I haven't flown TK in years and never had many miles to begin with. In fact, Star is the one alliance we have close to zero contact with - hence the need for an AMEX transfer partner. I managed to search on VS, but as you say doesn't seem to be any availability.

NZ is more or less the same size as the UK - actually not so small.
JQ is a very small player in that market. Oneworld partner Qantas flies to all major NZ cities ex AU. Air NZ is the very dominant player and NZ has many reward seats available and is again flying almost a normal schedule. I had a home there for 10 years thus know the market reasonably well.

Isnt UK more than 10 times the size of NZ by population?

Also UK is a hub in its own right into Europe. NZ is a hub to nowhere.
