Any Rumor of Chicago Restarting?

I was scheduled to fly ORD-HKG in June but the route has been dropped. Are there any rumors of it restarting soon?

Thank you

I would be happy to put a big bet on this route not operating for at least the rest of 2022.

Unfortunately the trend is in reducing flights, not increasing.

How could anyone possibly think that routes will be restarting as opposed to the currently operating routes being cancelled? CX is, sadly, irrelevant as a passenger airline thanks to the HK SAR leadership.

Hong Kong killed the CX star. I think until Hong Kong lifts the iron curtain, CX will continue to gasp for air and Chicago will remain closed.

But at least they have HBO Max now.

Yes, the route will open around the same time as HK opening up internationally. As to when that is, your guess is as good as mine, but I wouldn't count on 2022.

I don't know about dropping the ORD flight, but from what I am seeing, they are removing their entire flight schedule for 2022 and rebuild from scratch. My mom originally was on CX807 on 1/5/2022 then it cancelled in mid November and move her to 1/2/2022, and that was cancelled on Monday. They put her on AA then CX via LAX but looks like that flight might be in trouble too, now they are putting her to JFK flight on 1/3/2022 which should be restart after 2 week flight ban. The saga continue. Her return flight CX806 at the end March still on the itinerary as confirmed but I doubt that will happen. They are swam with flight cancellations across system wide.

Looks like the ORD route is currently being operated per https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...e-fly-now.html

My mom was on the last ORD-HKG 2807 12/26. At check in, I asked the agent what is the status of this route, he said it will still be run as cargo flight, but he knows for sure no passenger flight in January since he is not schedule to work next month. Maybe a chance after Chinese New Year or Winter Olympics, but nothing has been decided yet.

I think reports of their death are premature. However, I hope many heed your advice so that there is less competition for award seats once they become available again.
