Will CX stop flying because of crew quarantine?

There is serious talks of systematic 14-day quarantine of all arriving crew.
If so, it is likely that CX will stop flying.
Foreign airlines are less affected as they manage that their crew do not touch HK soil. Easy for regional flights originating away. For longhauls they already, they either have two crews onboard, or make a stopover in BKK or ICN.

Under a somewhat different measure (pre-departure rapid test before boarding any flight to AMS) by the Dutch government, KLM has threatened to stop all longhaul flights:

It is not news that bureaucrats of HK government do not understand how the real world works...Let's see what will happen...Of course HK government can go ahead with this plan if they would like to pour billions of money to CX and HK Airport Authority.

This has been extended to 7 days of rather strict home quarantine, followed by a test and 7 days of a less strict protocol.

A 14-day hotel quarantine would effectively require CX to have two crews on any longhaul aircraft with immediate turnaround at the outstation. There are few pax longhaul flights left, just a handful every day.. But it would make the cargo operations impossible and freight is crucial for CX.

Are there no seats at all on Cargo planes just behind the cockpit? If so, they could also fly with two crews?

It is "easier" for foreign airlines to avoid setting foot in an airport.
KL and EK have a stopover in BKK. In BKK, KL board a new crew that does the BKK-HKG-BKK service.
For a while BA was getting two crews on its HKG flights, with the F section devoted to crew rest.

Similarly CX251 to LHR was immediately continuing to AMS to avoid having CX crews touch UK soil. CX is a "foreign" airline to UK.

But those "tricks" cannot be performed at home base.

I do not know about cargo flights and how long it takes to unload and load a cargo plane.
CX was hoping that HKG would be a gateway for the vaccine. A lot of its business is transit shipment through HKG.. How that can be achieved if a landing crew needs to be quarantined 14 days when it lands at home.
Hopefully the government will come up with a viable alternative.

Can CX have their Bangkok based or Singapore based crew to do turnaround flights to HK to avoid the quarantine requirements?
Or perhaps its Oneworld partners can start more turnaround flights to HK?

Yes they still exist including LON base. Due to the base country’s restrictions, the moment they leave their own countries and fly back, they are bound by their own country’s quarantine, all because the govt don’t recongise these bases as part of their local airlines, thus no exemption.
