Same day change on Avios ticket

We have a reservation for October on the NGO-TPE-HKG service [connecting to AMS]. As is probably obvious, the similarly timed non-stop NGO-TPE was not available. However, I figured I might was well enquire here as to whether CX would ever entertain switching us onto the non-stop at check-in if there is space available?

No great loss if not as we've plenty of time on the ground in HKG, but would save us the farting around in TPE. AFAIK BA certainly would not short of anticipated IRROPS, and for many others it might depend on ticket type, so wondering what the CX approach is with the handful of Japan-TPE-HKG routes that all seem to have a non-stop counterpart.

Cheers!

No chance if your ticket number does not begin with 160 (issued by CX).
