Ticket Pricing

I apologize in advance for not being very familiar with Cathay or this route, but would appreciate any thoughts.

I’m looking at an economy ticket in January 2020 that is currently RT from HKG-MLE. It’s $675 USD. There is only one flight per day and it’s the only direct option.

Since its it’s a little far out, I was debating waiting on purchasing, though it is the high season in MLE. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or experience in buying in this route.

One flight a day so no options if you dilly-dally? Maybe don't gamble with not getting there at all while you wait to save $20. Or lose $200 if it goes to $875. I would never fly coach but a 6,000 mile R/T for $675 seems like a pretty fair price to me.

675USD is a decent price for the route - I wouldn't expect it to get much better. I think my ticket on the same route was closer to 800USD during the off-season 2 years ago. Good to know the above poster doesn't fly economy, a lot of people were wondering.

Appreciate the feedback sounds like a fair price esp for January. Luckily I have 16 hours in J so 6 hours of Y will be tolerable

That route is almost a monopoly (I think that's the only direct flight) and MLE is a popular destination.

Don't think the prices will get any cheaper unless you book through a consolidator or something or a package deal closer to the date.. but you will also risk the flights getting full and prices go up even more... Would just go for it, or try your luck in redeeming a ticket if you have the miles available...
