CPH changes? Ending? [confirmed route ending]

Copenhagen seasonal flights are due to restart May 2019 for the Summer season, however inventory is either at zero for all classes, or all except full fare levels.

All other European cities are on sale as usual.

Are changes coming to CPH or is there a danger it is not coming back next year? If so, will other cities receive extra service next year?

With SAS moving their HKG route from Stockholm to CPH from W18, not sure if cx can compete with just a seasonal service.

Edit : just notice that they have also closed reservations for flights after Jun 2019.

Just did CPH-HKG-CPH. Useful route and has the A350. CPH-HKG was only 50% full in J, which got me thinking if this was viable or not. But return last night seemed to be nearly full in J. Hope it stays.

Regards

Hope it stays and this is just CX being lazy loading schedules again.

Sorry, i meant loading the discount fare categories to the schedules. Often when only full fare tickets are available it's because they haven't bothered adding the other fares yet.

Not this case, fares are there, but no availability, means they don't want to accept reservation. This makes the possibility that CX will not have the service in 2019 a lot more likely. If you actually booked J/W/Y fare, CX would be happy to re-route you. Otherwise, CX doesn't want to bother, at least not till it made the final decision to drop the rules.

FYI, you can still discount fares CPH-HKG in August next year, just no availability.

There are 14 CX destinations in Europe, and CPH is the "weakest link".
It only operates 3 times per week and none of them runs on Saturday and Sunday. (only on Mon, Wed, Fri)
Both frenquancy and timetable are not good...
I fly to Europe often and CPH is the most undesirable place to go for me due to its frenquancy and timetable.

Replace it with ARN and a tag to EDI.

Too bad -- but not surprised given it was only 3x weekly. Anecdotally, the J cabin was 100% full when I flew CPH-HKG in June.

SAS is starting CPH-HKG 5x weekly from October onwards, which will probably impact CX's decision.

Would be funny if CX drops HKG-CPH for HKG-ARN after SK does the reverse.

Funny, yes - likely, no. SK is now just doing what they should have done in the first place: have that route from CPH.
There just is not enough demand from ARN to support such routes, as SK has experienced every time they have tried (PEK, BKK and now HKG comes to mind).

Still hoping for CX to stay though! Would be interesting to see what happens if they step up the frequency and make it a year-round route to compete directly with SK.

Fingers crossed for this. CX has a far superior product on the route.
