Cancel/Change after completing first leg of the reservation

Hello All,

I tried to search but could not find a good answer to this.

I have a return reservation from US to Cebu, Philippines. I have already completed my first part, i.e. US to Cebu. I want to change my plans and instead of going back to US, I would like to go to Europe (CDG). I tried to go online in 'my bookings' (On CX web) and tried to hit change booking, but it gives me error saying I can't do that.

Is this something that needs to be done by calling customer care? No online options? I wanted to weigh my options of re-booking vs buying tickets from US to CDG and back.

The online option does allow me to cancel, but it doesn't say anything about charges, how much I damage that will cause my wallet etc. I called customer care too, but couldn't get anyone on line. Waiting for them to call back. Even the FAQ's are not helpful. I am hoping I can get some help from here.

Just in case this is helpful: I am MPC Silver and my current reservation is in Premium Economy.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a rebooking...unless you're on fully flexible max fare tickets, which are basically priced as one way sectors. Otherwise you bought a US to Cebu round trip, and I'm almost certain you can't swap a North American destination with a European one....

I am not saying I want to swap it- i.e. not just for free.

All I am saying is: Can I cancel the return part now? If yes, would I get any refund? If yes, how can I find out how much? I am perfectly ok booking a new one way ticket to Europe if that's the only choice.

I just want to know my options. Whether to fly back to US as I have my current reservation for and then go to Europe. Or change my flights some how and go directly to Europe. If I could compare the costs in either case, I can decide accordingly.

Or just book a round trip to Europe from Cebu (maybe on QR or someone cheaper than CX) then fly back to the US from Cebu (assuming the US is where you want to end up after Europe and that you can change the date on your CX return legs...)

Yeah, my date/s are too close for the intended travel to Europe to that of the current flights to US. So, that won't work. :-(

This won’t work. I’m pretty certain the fare rules will restrict you from westward travel to Europe.

Mate, none of us can do that for you - ticket pricing is highly specific. You must figure out your fare sub class, point of sale, and dig up the highly specific rules for your itinerary. Start with the fare sub class and point of sale. Otherwise we can't really help you.

How much did you pay? We can start there to get a clue. But unfortunately the rest of the info you've provided isn't nearly sufficient to answer any of your questions!

Understood. I am just asking where to look. Because kaka said "according to ticket rules" I was hoping I can find the rules to figure it out myself.

I Paid ~$1800 for LAX to CEB and CEBU to JFK. All premium economy (E) segments.

Just got a call from an agent. She said the re-routing change will be $4k something.

She said she needs to find out how much refund I will get if I just cancel segment and will get back to me. Let's see. :-)

in all fairness you forfeiting the return and buy a new one way or RT would be cheaper.

By forfeiting, you mean just not showing up? Or just canceling it and not worrying if I get a refund?

We don't know your fare rules. You need to find them and read what they say (or call CX again.) I suspect there is no refund due, but you need to check this out for yourself. I did a dummy booking for you in E class. these are the fare rules:
