tier point level question
Hello,
i did a search, but got no result.
On Cathay´s web site I found that Asia Miles is the place to accumulate the miles, but Marco Polo Club is the place where you get the tier status. Is that right ?
To join Marco Polo, there is a fee 50 USD ?
But I found no info´s about the level of points/miles needed for silver/gold/platin ?
At the moment 2 of us have two segments in F between FRA and HKG + 1 in J between HKG and BKK. With BA this brought 400 points, which means silver. ASIA Miles quoted around 18500 miles.
So what to do, to get status ?

when you apply for Marco Polo Club you are automatically enrolled in Asiamiles, however you get status miles only by flying CX or any of the partners in Oneworld. Currently there's a 50USD fee for enrolling in MPC, while if you join Asiamiles none of it applies. I understood that for people accruing high mileage on AM there will be an invitation to join MPC.
The point/level needed are as follows:
-GREEN: 4 sectors/year;
-SILVER: 30000 miles/year or 20 sectors, whatever come first;
- GOLD: 60000 miles/year or 40 sectors, as above stated;
-DIAMOND: 120000 miles/year or 80 sectors as above stated;
there is a further level called INVITATION, in which regardless of current status CX may enroll certain high profile travelers, at his own discretion (this has nothing to do with the invitation to Asiamiles member mentioned above).
As for mileage accrual, economy get 100%, business 125% and first 150%. Careful however that certain classes does not get mileage, while some only 50%.
On CX site there is a mileage booklet for downloading with all the distances between destination, you may well consult this.
This is a very rough explanation, however I hope it be useful to you.
