Miles for O class?

Just a quick question, does O class/fare bucket accure miles in any ff programs?

Also, which fare bucket is the Asia Pacific pass booked under? Thanks.

Under the Cathay Pacific Asia Miles rule, only fares booked in Y/B/H/K/L/M/S are eligible for miles so therefore you will be ineligible for miles on O class.

Under the Qantas FFP, you will also be ineligible to earns miles. You will find that all oneworld FFPs would have an ineligibility clause under the O sub-class fare.

Therefore, I strongly recommend that you upgrade your fare to a eligible fare class to earn miles if this is really important to you.

BTW, Where are you flying from?

To answer your question further, please provide more details on which FFP you are looking at accruing your mileage. Please be more specific on the Asia Pacific Pass - where are you purchasing this from?

BA executive program earns 25%(!) miles for KLMNOQSV subclasses. See www.ba.com.
AY Finnair Plus program earns 50%(!) miles for GNQOS subclasses. See www.finnair.com

Star Alliance Fan, a little more info.

The travel will originate from Canada. Planned trip in Nov is for YVR-BKK-HKG-YVR on CX. I'm asking for my parents as they're doing this as their anniversary trip. The agent only offered this O class ticket to her, along with 7 nights of hotel/meal/guided tour in Thailand for $1450 CAD. They're currently AAdvantage members, but CX took away the special Canadian mileage accural previlege in Sept. I'm asking for suggestions as to where to bank the miles, if permitted. I know Asiamiles currently has this bonus miles promotion for Canadian, but judging from what I read above, they won't be getting miles from AsiaMiles either on this ticket. Any other suggestions, other than BA or Finn. Would Alaska Airline Mileage Plan work? The roundtrip to BKK would earn close to 15k miles.

It's spreading the miles around too much but if they want to spring for a little bit more, they could go NW in BC depending on when they are flying.

Trouble is that this is a special land/air package and that "O" class offers no miles. You may want to either ask the travel agent to ask CX if they can pay the extra for the miles. Normally the difference is minimal but for packages, the difference is huge.

My airfare a few months back from YVR to BKK alone was C$1420, so I would think miles for this, no.

Alaska Airline's web page
http://www.alaskaair.com/mileageplan...rs_Airline.asp
does not mention about subclasses of CX flight. It says
"Earn one mile for each mile flown; 25% bonus for business class; 50% for first class."

It is worth to ask AS Mileage Plan desk.

If CX themselves don't award miles for "O" class, do you think they will pay for someone else to earn them?

It's like SQ's V, N classes. No one else can earn any miles on them. So chances are that the same 'no miles accrued' will be passed on. After all, it will be CX's CRS which will be passing the mileage information onto other airlines. If their own CRS' reject the "O" class, what chance is there that other airlines' FFP will receive the post?

Because BA and AY web sites clearly state these things, I think we can accumulate milaeage with 'O' class.

I understand your opinion and inference. But, still can we claim miles as missing credit ?
We need real experience about this.
But, BA and AY forums are suitable for this discuttion.
Probably, someone has real experience.

[UPDATE]
I inquired AY Finnair Plus Service Desk in JAPAN.
Customer service agent replied that we can earn 50% mileage for 'O' class of CX flight. The agent said there is no relation to that Asiamiles members can not earn miles with that class.
