Should I Call Cathay?

Just scored two business class award seats for my wife and I to JOHANNESBURG through HNK. American sent me a email listing my seats on American but as of yet I have not gotten the seats on Cathay. We fly on a AIRBUS A340-600 next May. Any suggestions so we get the quietest seats or are we stuck with the seats we get. Another question if you would: Can we use the lounges while on our trip? Again thanks!

I would choose the AB side..because you would have access to the lavatory in front
of the cabin , and in the back of the cabin
also...On the HK side , you have the lav
in front , the back one is blocked most of
time by the FAs working there , they have
a little station right across the aisle from
it...
Yes , you will have lounge privileges at CLK
and at JNB ( the BA Terrace lounges )

I'm doing this trip in November, and the CX website says Frist Class passengers have use of the SAA First Lounge at JNB, not the BA Terraces. Will post if this proves to be the case or not.

If its the CX flight number on CX metal, you will have terrace lounge access. Frankly, it's nothing to write home about, though it has computers so I guess you could try.

I'm doing first class, same trip in February. I called CX, and the nice agent took my request for seats, but their computers will not assign any till 6 months before the trip. She told me I should get a call on 8/13 to confirm my picks and if I don't to call back. I checked CX website and all the flights I'm on are wide open in F, so I don't see a reason why I won't get the seats I want.

It depends on CX's reservation system or its policy.
CX CRS can not handle seat assignment before 6 months advance from flight date.
When I bought a full fare ticket, I was not able to get seat assignment in such case.

The trip is next February with a return in early March. Called CX and had no problems with seat assignment, and the CSR was great too!!! If she was any indication of the service level, I'm in for a treat!
