YYZ and LAX difference in service?
I usually fly biz class on the YYZ-HKG route and enjoy ther service CX has. This October I will be leaving from LAX. Does anyone know if I can expect a different service level or amenities?

Only difference you might experience, other than a shorter flying time, so minor adjustment to the meal service. Also, there is no refueling stop, so you won't have to wake up just as you are getting into REM sleep. Otherwise, it would depend upon the aircraft used. YYZ uses a A340 while LAX may have a B747, which may provide some minor differences. What were you expecting? Oh, and CX has its own lounge at LAX while it used BA's at YYZ, I believe.

I actually likes the LAX service. What a surprise! You will actually be served with the exact same kinds of meals as the YYZ-HKG as the LAX-HKG service (even though YYZ flight took a couple hours longer and a stopover). You will get the supper service after takeoff (abbreviated dinner) and then breakfast prior to arrival. There will be choices of instant noodles, pizzas, sandwiches and ice-cream during midflight.
Sometimes I wonder why CX cannot serve a real third meal on the longer YYZ-HKG flight.
Well, LAX lounge, although operated by CX, was not that great though... it can be crowded especially the second LAX flight returns. There is no separate first class section.

they started to rent the AF lounge for F in lax (for midnight flights). a little more space, close to the elevator on the left side/cx gate side) still it is nothing special.....
(eg nothing compared to the CX F lounge in BKK, not to say the wing, or cx yvr lounge)

I realize the YYZ BA lounge is of an older design, but the First section is quite acceptable for small loads. Do CX First passengers have access to this smaller room [and pre-flight dining room], or just to the main J-C/ExecClub/Sapphire section?
Wonder if passengers originating in YYZ will have access to YVR CX lounge during that refuelling stop? CX has a nice, albeit small, YVR lounge. Most LAX T4 lounges are pretty grungy. Certainly not of the standards one might expect from such a major international gateway. [Though I would expect the BA/QF one to be of higher standards.]

Not sure about the BA lounge arrangement at YYZ.
But about the current routing from HKG to YYZ via YVR and vice versa, no passenger is allowed to deplane at Vancouver, but there will be a crew change. The plane will park at a regular gate at the D concourse (International) and no passenger will deplane... only crew and flight personnel.
I like the Vancouver lounge... I think CX should purchase the empty Korean lounge next to it and convert it into a F lounge. Well, juding from current financial situation, it is not likely to happen, but CX can use a few more computer with internet connections at the YVR lounge.

Thanks for the update on the YVR refueling stop, Carfield. Nice to know I can stay put in my F cucoon, even if I must wake up for the landing a mere 4-hours after taking off from YYZ, and likely 2-hours after concluding supper.
