the reliability of the 346s

i'm wondering if the 346s still have some of the teething problems initially enountered when the 3 planes were added. i'm scheduled to fly on CX 838 next week. has there been any instances where problems with the 346 caused CX to substitute it with another plane or or a delay in the departure time ? if the aircraft needs to be substituted what has CX brought in ? 744 or 343 ? thanks.

There have been many reports concerning Airbus A340-600s... but I am sure that the problem is being resolved. I have full confidence about these beautiful airbuses. I am flying the A346 this upcoming Wednesday.

Seeing the Toronto flights are now rerouted through Vancouver. If there is an equipment problem with CX 838 or 839, passengers are most likely be placed on the two other YVR-HKG flights. If it is a full load, CX will most likely substitute with an Airbus A340-300. But it is hard to predict.

Don't worry much! You will be fine and most likely you will get to fly the brand new Airbus A340-600.

i'm flying on CX838 which is HKG-YVR.
even though CX828/829 is routed thru YVR, CX828/829 has no passenger rights between HKG-YVR or YVR-YYZ. CX838 pax can only put onto CX888 (which leaves earlier then CX838). that's my understanding of the situation. correct me if i'm wrong. if the 346 is a full load that day, a 343 can't carry all the pax of a 346. would CX bring in a 744 or just bring in a 343 and bump 20/30 pax to the next day ?

CX will not overbook that much. Most likely it will only overbook by about 5-10%. So it'll be very unlikely that CX will overbook a 346 capacity with a 744. Then why doesn't it sell it as a 744?

That's what yield management is for. They will determine just how many seats need to be jostled around.

One of the best airlines for yield management has got to be SQ. No matter how full the flight is, they still manage to put everyone in Y if their ticket is Y. Hardly any upgrades ever occur there!
