Which do you prefer: 747 or A346?
I'm a newbie to CX but will have a flight in first. From west coast I have a choice of A346 from LAX or 747B from SFO. I realize that equipment can be changed, but which 1st class would you go with and why? Appreciate your help with this.

Without a doubt, the B744 in F. The cabin on the A346 can feel a little tight. There's more room in the B744 with a triangular arrangement rather than two rows of 4.
Try to perform a search as there have been past discussions I believe.

I am the exception here. I like both Boeing 747 and Airbus A340, but Airbus A340-600 is not a bad choice either. The width of the Airbus A340-600 seems to improve a bit, and having a cabin with only 8 F seats may make the service a bit more personal.
Anyway, the nose experience is pretty unique too in Boeing 747... but I guess what I am trying to say is that both aircrafts are fine...
But sometimes it may be more interesting to fly a brand new aircraft Airbus A340-600...

2 crew on the A340 can sometimes make for sluggish service in F is the flight is full. 3 on the 747 even when full seems speedier - probably because there are 2 people serving the cabin with 1 galley slave.
So go with the 744.

If entertainment is important to you, it's worth noting that the 346 offers built-in Audio/Video on Demand whereas the 74B does not (744 and 74J coded aircraft offer AVOD).
Otherwise the 747-400 is quieter as the galley is at the rear of the cabin rather than at the front, and the seats do tend to give a little more of a 'spacious' feel.
