more cuts in schedule?
I was just checking my flight on the 17th JFK-HKG on CX889, and noticed that it's not being displayed on any of the booking engines anymore.. I presume it's been cut, but I couldn't find any press release from CX about cutting flights... Anyone know if there are others being cut?

I see flight CX889, JFK-HKG on May 17, scheduled as usual in Galileo. But it shows all "C"s (meaning: wait list closed):
(More at http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/people/...ravel/galileo/ )
Suggests they're planning to cancel it on that day, yes. But the day before and day after look OK, so many this is just a one-time cancellation.

Looks like 889 operates on Wed/Fri/Sun only. It seems to me that CX will only operate one flight to/from YVR per day; it continues to JFK on Wed/Fri/Sun, but to YYZ on Mon/Tue/Thu/Sat. Sad!

Indeed. My original travel plans (2 trips on CX) for this month have been messed up completely. Service cancellations and equipment changes..... It's frustrating, but I am still going to stick with CX at this moment, unless the J service really becomes unacceptable, then I'll consider changing the carrier.

CX appear to have cancelled my 5 June JFK-HKG flight - no one called me so I'm glad I check this stuff all the time. My connection to AKL had not been rebooked and so I would have missed it (by 24 hours).
The UK office was EXCELLENT - listened to what I wanted to do and why, agreed to waive the change fee and to give me an extra coupon on my RTW to accommodate the solution.
Disappointed it was cancelled but - Well Done Cathay.

schedules are in general reduced.
but cargo business is still good (small decline though).
therefore, you can expect those flights where the belly can be filled are unlikely to be cut.

Just to follow up my earlier post, I knew I had got away too lightly.
Yesterday, I received a call from Cathay saying that I needed to travel from JFK either one day earlier or one day later and that I should not have been sent via LAX.
I explained that I could not get back from ANC in time for the 4th and that the 6th would cause me to miss my connection in AKL.
This took nearly an hour to explain
Later they called back and said that they had booked me to JFK (not EWR), and then on to LAX as they couldn;t give me an extra coupon from JFK-EWR. (I didn't want/need one). Plus the seat from JFK is in Coach and I had a seat from EWR in F.
After another hour, during which I explained that I already had a ticket which would get me to EWR (as JFK is a co-terminal), and that all they had to do was to get me EWR-LAX-HKG. In the end they agreed so after two hours on the phone. I'm back where I started and happy about it. So Less Well Done Cathay.
