Bedelman,

In my situation AA had booked the F award ticket for me and ticketed it. 2 days later CX pulled their morning flight out of SYD forcing an overnight in HKG in order to connect to LAX. AA had their partner desk contact CX and they sent a message via their system. Both were denied. I called CX - US 800 number (Marco Polo # is worthless for this type of situation).

I originally asked to speak to a supervisor. The agent said - explain to me the problem. I did and she said at first it could not be done - I then countered with CX changed the schedule after I ticketed. It should be your responsibility - she put me through to a supervisor who looked at the record and authorised it. I did not mention I was MP Diamond but she may have seen it in the record.

In my opinion CX or any other airline should accomadate no matter the class of service when their schedule change forces the overnight.

Sounds quite reasonable, Mike. My situation is a bit different -- less favorable to me! -- since I don't yet hold a reservation or ticket for the affected itinerary. Guess I'll just pay for a night of hotel -- hardly the end of the world.

Bedelman,

I have not looked but I bet you can get some pretty good deals on HKG hotel rooms!

Have a safe trip!
