Stopover rules? Maximum allowed?

How long of a stopover is allowed for a redemption booking?

I’ve never used a stopover on a redemption booking, and I cannot find anything that defines a stopover in any detail, other than to say they are allowed.

On the award chart I see: https://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/redeem/charts
"You can make a maximum of five stopovers, two transfers and two open-jaws at either origin, en-route or turnaround point, subject to airline partners' terms and conditions"

On the Asia Miles site, I see this: https://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/site/terms#12
The Member or the Nominee may make two stopovers, two transfers or one open-jaw at either the origin, en route or turnaround point on all airline partners except Air China where no stopovers or open-jaws are permitted.

Ideally I’d fly:
ORD --> MNL (through HKG)

Then on the return:
MNL --> HKG, stopover for 2 days, then HKG --> ORD

Even better on the return would be on openjaw of:
CRK --> HKG, stopover for 2 days, then HKG --> ORD

Of course I can call MPC to work out the details, but I was hoping to understand the rules before calling.

Don't forget the turnaround point is a stopover. If you stop in HKG twice while going somewhere and returning, that will be counted as three stops (2 in HKG and 1 at the destination).

Your first quote is for oneworld mc award and the second one for standard award. Based on your routing it would fall into the latter, and I believe your proposed itinerary is permissible as one roundtrip award.

I called and confirmed that all of the ideas are considered a valid round trip.

I'm confirmed on one of the segments, and waitlisted on 8 others. :-) I'm sure something will open up.

I'll see if I can get more of the rules when I call back to ticket it (assuming the waitlists clear.).

Transit means <= 24 hours. Stopover means > 24 hours. All sectors need to be flown within a year of ticket issuance (and I believe AM allows you to pay extra to extend by another month), so technically a stopover can be as long as 364 days.
