New J Class
Does anybody know the timetable for configuring additional aircraft with the new J class? I am particularly interested in the JFK-HKG route in June. A previous post by etravelconsultant indicated only one reconfigured 747 as of early Feb.
By the way, neither CX nor Marco Polo is very helpful with these matters. It seems that only certain contributors to this board know what is going on. Kudos to them!

Highly unlikely.
CX will refurbish the 747s required for European sectors before USA sectors. This was consistent when they were refurbishing the aircrafts with the current Besty First Class seats, because European routes yield higher revenues than North America.
It's hard to tell what aircraft flies what route from their paper timetable. You can only check when calling CX res ... if the aircraft shows as 744 as opposed to 74B or 74J, it's the new J class configuration.
But as only one aircraft and maybe two to date which has the new configuration at the moment, you might not get the new J class experience yet. Maybe you might want to try flying out of Toronto? They have the A343 designated as 34C which has the new J class layout.

Any thoughts on why CX would choose Toronto for a 34C? Per prior discussion, other routes are higher-yield? Perhaps Toronto is the "best" (highest yield) of the routes flown by 340s? But then why not move a 340 to a higher-yield route, to give high-yield J folks the better New J class? Weird... to me, at least.

On a trip last week, the YYZ-HKG was a 34C but the HKG-YYZ return was a 34S. Didn't matter to me, since both has the new First but you might be unpleasantly surprised by the old seats.

I don't think CX has a concrete schedule to fly the New J B744 to North America yet....if you can get on one, is pure luck.
this Wed (20Feb) you might have a chance to see her in YVR and JFK as long as therei sno last minute aircraft change!

CX first introduced the new J class on the LHR route. Perhaps the reason isn't that LHR is "high yield", but that they need to compete head-to-head with the BA J class product. The old CX J class is already superior to anything else between HKG-JFK, so there may be less pressure to introduce in on the JFK route.
I am not sure what cities are served by the 34C. Perhaps these are cities also served by a competitive J class product (SN or BA)?

I've found CX to be very unreliable about their A340s. On three flights I was scheduled on new J only to have it changed at the last minute. The funny thing is that the one time I did get the new J, it was not scheduled.
