Amenity Kits
I was just reading about the changes to CX's business class to be introduced over the next two years. However, what concerned me was the immediate change in the amenity kits. I was hoping to fly CX towards the end of the year, and pick up a couple of the metal boxes which were being used over the past few months. But from reading various posts, I understand that these have been withdrawn and replaced by a more traditional bag-like case.
I was wondering if any of you had one or two of these metal cases to spare? I would be happy to provide something in exchange [we could discuss what you wanted: Maple Syrup, a copy of "Up In The Air"...?], or at least reimburse the cost of postage to Canada. Contents are not needed, just the metal box itself.

Unless CX made a very abrupt change, I only got cloth bag kits for my 3 intercontinental/transcontinental flights in June (YVR-HKG, HKG-CDG, JFK-YVR).

Well, I flew HKG-LHR in June, and they gave out the boxes.. but on my flight back 2 weeks ago from JFK-HKG, I only got a regular cloth bag.. not nearly as nice as the boxes...

It doesn't mean that it isn't good when it's small! CX stocks their First Class amenity kits with ERNO LASZLO stuff and L'OCCITANE en PROVENCE in Business Class. One for guys and one for gals - in each class. These contain some of the best inflight amenities around.
First Class had the 'wooden boxes' for some time until they finally changed it recently to the soft bag which I find so much more useful than the box. In Business, CX originally had cardboard boxes as kits which are very cute (and recyclable). A very nice touch.
Those who know the true values and quality of ERNO LASZLO and L'OCCITANE en PROVENCE products need not be impressed by the size of the bags they come in. The names speak for themselves.
