Hello,

Can anyone please tell me if there are any frequent flyer program which will earn miles/status when flying CX on discount economy fares (for example 'V' class) ??

Thanks .....

I am not sure about V class, but I was able to earn mile on a K class through British Airway.

Let me guess, All Asia Pass ?

All Asia Pass tickets will earn no frequent flyer mileage credit in any program (regardless of the class traveled) and may not be used to qualify for any promotional bonus offer or special offer (including Hong Kong SuperStop).

V and S class tickets on CX do not earn miles even on AsiaMiles.

while V probably won't earn you any miles in any programs, i think S on CX does earn you miles in Asia Miles, in AAdvantage (only for Canadian residents), and in QF's program...i'm not so sure about the other programs though...

What about M class?

I flew a few sectors in the past months in Asia with Cathay in M class and they have not been posted to my AA account.

Y, B, H on CX earn miles with Asia Miles, AAdvantage (no matter where you live), etc...

K, L, M, S on CX earn miles with Asia Miles...and with AAdvantage only if you register a Canadian address with them...

Beware SQ also has non-mileage accrual classes.

So far all my SQ flights on M class have been credited to UA, as opposed to the ones in CX not being crdited to AA. Also the very cheap e-tickets booked through SQ's website get me miles (e.g the SG$ 350 Rt SIN-BKK). I will continue pushing my luck with the SQ-UA combo.

Cathay Pacific is listed as a partner on Qualiflyer's web site, and unlike for several other of their partners there is no footnote about booking classes that are excluded. Has anybody got discounted CX flights credited to Qualiflyer? I've emailed them to check but haven't got a reply yet.

This is the reply I got from Qualiflyer customer service:

We wish to inform you that it is possible to accrue miles on Cathay Pacific
booked in M class.

I specifically asked about M class, this doesn't necessarily mean that's the only discounted economy that counts. [Edited to add this sentence.]

Interesting that CX has a more generous FF agreement with Qualiflyer than with their oneworld partners...

if i remember correctly with Qualiflyer you can earn miles on CX flights in subclasses Y, B, H, K, L, M and S (same as Asia Miles, QF's program, AAdvantage members in Canada, etc)...V and other are still excluded...
