inaugural flight

Some storis around inaugural flight for UA (JFK-HKG) and AA (SJU-TPE) recently. I would like to ask any FTers had been on a CX inaugural flight? Any special parties/treatment/gifts?

Just want to know what CX will do for that

Thanks!

Never been on an inaugural flight, but I believe CX had quite the hooplah 06 July 1998 when they flew Polar One, JFK-HKG nonstop, with the arrival in HK being the first one at Chek Lap Kok. Special certificates were given to passengers for being on the record breaking flight, and also for being the first arrival at CLK. IATA officials as well as other recording officials were on hand for the flight.

Slightly off topic, but passengers on the last flight to leave Hong Kong Kai Tak on 5/6 July 1998 (CX 251 HKG-LHR B747-467 B-HOP) did get some certificates.

I heard...it wasn't a great source though, so if someone could tell me the fact for that flight, it'd be appreciated. Thanks

I was on the inaugural HKG YYZ in 94.

No biggie. Some press, some gifties.
