Cathay's In-Flight Highspeed E-Mail

Does anyone know the specifics of this service & what equipment I'll need to bring along in order to use it?

This is the supplier to CX as well as SK and AC Tenzing.

Apparently an USB connection is needed. CX specific news release

An emPower compatible power supply would be helpful too.

This sounds like a great idea, but I don't believe it. Just returned from HKG on CX via YVR in J Class. Plane was A-340. No power for the laptops at the seats, and crew didn't think it would be available for a long time on this plane.

Even if there were power, my OS is NT4.0, and NT doesn't support USB so it won't work anyway on my system, even if there is eMpower.

I had planned to work on the flight home using the emPower power. Couldn't work at all. Very disappointed. Slept most of the trip instead.

CX used an A340 HKG-YVR? When was this flight? I've yet to see a CX A340 in YVR (just 747-400s).

CX has two flights a day on some days now. Flight 838 runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays and is a 340. The daily flight 888 is a 747-400.

Thanks Bollar. I wasn't aware the HKG-YVR market had been downgraded so much. AC is cancelling its A340 YYZ-YVR-HKG service and relying on the CP 747-400 a/c instead.

Starting April, CX will once again be using 747-400 daily for CX838/839
