Cathay Pacific "New" First Class Update

Seventeen (17) of the 19 aircrafts in Cathay Pacific's Boeing 747-400 fleet have been fitted with the new first class seats (aka. Betsy Seats or 74B as it is commonly refered to as).

Check this out on on-line at:
http://www.cathaypacific.com/flights/rtfs/

Can someone tell me when Cathay Pacific will be rolling out the new First Class seats (aka Betsy) on Airbus 340-300 aircrafts. I believe they will have these on the airbus. There is also a runour that Boeing 777 will be fitted with First Class section. This makes sense given CX uses them between HKG to Dubai (DXB) which is a good 7 hour flight out of HKG.

Also, are the Boeing 777-200 Economy Class be getting Personal Television?

Look forward to hearing from you soon!

There are conflicting reports from even within CX crew themselves about the new First Class seats to be installed on the A340-300s. Some say that they're being planned, some say that they're being retrofitted and some don't even know about it. But I think the word is out that the imminent will happen as too many people (including myself) have written countless letters complaining of having to endure anything more than 7 hours on an A340 and paying the same rates as on First Class on a 747-400 (like some flights to London).

Welcome aboard FlyerTalk, BT!

According to a news story on Bloomberg CX is about to install the Betsy seats on A340s. Eleven existing Airbus jets will be refitted with the beds and five new planes on order will be delivered with them already installed.

There is also a press release on Cathay's website http://www.cathaypacific.com/insidec.../mc_index.html

Most intersting...
4 out of 12 A330s will receive the new F class as well for medium haul routes.

The airlines A330s are used on short-haul and medium-haul routes such as between Hong Kong and Bali, Cairns, and Surabaya. They currently carry 311 passengers in two classes. The A330s with the new First Class cabin will have 8 seats in First Class, 32 in Business Class, and 211 in Economy Class. Those with the new First Class cabin will serve medium-haul routes.

Hopefully the J class will upgrade to the current international J class standard of fifty inches...

I myself can not say enough good things about CX first class. On recent Tpe-Nrt flight, I was the only passenger and was treated like a shogun!(or shogunette..) They asked if I would be having some red wine and i could not resist 86 chateau Lynch-Bages boardeax. The ever pleasant and accommodaing FA opened the bottle to let it 'breathe' . and the steak was served nearly perfect medium-rare I wanted to show the steak to UA first kitchen to show The Difference!

The similar experience on a long distance flight from CDG to HNG. The chief purser even showed me a copy of the telex he sent to HNG to arrange for my missed connection as the flight was arriving one hour late.

All these experiences and the new HNG lounge that tops it all are making me fast approaching the AA Platinum Executive. Say Sayonara to StarAlliance....
