Availability on CX website vs. expertflyer?

Hi All,

Wanted to ask a quick question...

I've just tried out expertflyer and looked for availability for CGK-HKG-TPE on 21 Sep. On Expertflyer I get J3 C0 D0 I0 (for a variety of flights throughout the day) but on the CX website it says not available.

Am I searching wrong or is this a normal issue?

Thanks!

Not sure how to do that actually? the choices I have seem to be USA/HKG/SIN but I'm actually buying from TPE.

Yups - I also checked if I buy a new ticket on the website I see one seat available. But when I try to move my flight to it, it doesn't show up as available

Well it's there and can indeed be booked. Maybe try through a TA?

Since you're not looking at a web special, they should be able to help you at ~same price

Thanks all for the replies.

Unfortunately this is an already existing ticket that I've flown the outbound sectors on. I don't think a TA will that right?

However, I am getting a little bit more frustrated. It seems that when I try to move my flights I'm seeing less availability than I would if I booked a new ticket out right. Does this have something to do with my fare class? (it's I3MTW which I guess is I class?)

Yes, your ticket is in I class if your fare basis I3MTW. In that case, since there is no I class available in the flight you prefer (you mentioned that expertflyer shows J3 C0 D0 I0), you won't be able to switch to that flight.

Wouldn't we usually be able to pay extra to upgrade to a higher fare class?

Thanks again!

Hmm, I am seeing on ExpertFlyer that CX602 (MLE to HKG) on 29th has J5 C1.

But when I try and book a flight on this date, CX website shows no availability.

Guessing that ExpertFlyer is just inaccurate here with regards to CX?

EDIT: Hmm, seems Skyscanner shows some availability - but not CX.
