Some more post-strike miles !!
More miles for Marco Polo Club members..."as a gesture of our appreciation of your support during our service disruption"...CX is crediting accounts of The Club members with both Asia Miles AND Club Miles...Silver: 5,000, Gold: 10,000, Diamond/Invitation: 15,000...and since it's both Asia Miles and Club Miles...these would actually count towards status renewal/upgrade...
I'm not sure if this only applies to some of the members (e.g. HK-based)...but I would expect this to be all elite members...
And, they said, this "is in addition to any other mileage offer or promotion which may be applicable in the coming weeks"...so, maybe there's even more promotions coming...

Celestar340...finally, news about my status..."Because you fly so frequently and by way of an apology for sub-standard service levels, I have instructed the Service Centre to upgrade you to Gold card"...thanks Merry and Celestar340 and others for all your previous comments and advice !! ok...now I'm aiming for Diamond...
BTW, hopefully they're crediting the 5,000-15,000 miles to my account after they upgraded my status, so that I'm getting 10,000 and not 5,000, and that I'm not getting 10,000 extra Club Miles, get upgraded to Gold, and then lost that extra 10,000 Club Miles because I have to start from 0 again...
So, Celestar340...now that you're probably 10,000 closer to Diamond...will that give you an incentive to credit your future flights to CX ?? Or you'll still stick with CP ??

Hi tedhl -
Thanks for your postings here. I haven't received any information about the 8888 bonus miles for flights after the strike. I actually flew CX SIN-BKK on 17th June, so I don't know if that qualifies.
The only temptation in aiming towards Diamond is the confirmed Biz class seat when booking 48 hrs prior to departure. And maybe the cabin crew smiles at me a bit more.
If I squeeze in all my travels between now and October onto oneworld carriers, I could hit Diamond with CX and requalify with CP's Exec Plat as well. But that would mean giving up on AC's SuperElite - which frankly, I don't mind being downgraded to just plain Elite - which is Star Gold anyway.
tedhl - have you noticed that most English speaking representatives of The Club's desk are Japanese?
Revised: I just checked with The Club, and yes they said that they have posted 10K into my Gold account but not AsiaMiles. But I realised that they are wrong (as most of them are these days since the personalised service of the original MPO has gone the way of the dodo bird) as my award miles had 10K more miles than I remembered! But the 8888 bonus only applies to HK residents. BooHoo.

that's true...you don't really need to keep Emerald in 2 programs...except, if you're CX Diamond, as you said, you get guaranteed business (and economy) seats (it's 24 hours prior to departure though, not 48)...and probably, access to CX lounges even when not flying CX...otherwise there's really no additional benefits...
but you're also true on the AC side...now that they no longer have the 28000 miles for 8 any-distance any-fare international upgrades, there's less of an incentive to keep SuperElite...
the 8888 promotion started on June 19...so I think your flight on June 17 would not qualify even if you are a HK resident...I didn't receive any information in the mail either on this 8888 promotion, just read from the local newspapers...
since you have 2 addresses on file with MPO already, why don't you add one more HK address (you can use mine if you need one), and tell them this is for "bonus purpose"...
representatives of The Club service center...not sure, because I usually talk to the Cantonese-speaking ones...

My Cantonese has smidgens of English mixed in so that's why I had not pressed 2 on phone menu option button. I should give it a go and see!

yes, I'm always in HK during the weekends, and for these few weeks I'm not doing much traveling either, so will be here most of the time...
Celestar340, you'll be in HK again some time soon ??

in HKG with Gisela: friday nov-12 (arriving 14:20) till sunday nov-14(leaving 20:20) - staying at the Oriental Mandarin (thanks to an arrangement of HongKong-flyer) and having a free tour (thanks to a voucher of BlondeBomber).
