Chances of an upgrade?

Flying BKK-HKG then two days later HKG-LGW. In PEY (E class). Until recently both flights have been showing PEY full bar one seat in MMB. Now MMB not displaying the seat map - does this mean the cabin is full?

What are the chances of an upgrade to J class, I'm Oneworld Emerald and the Mrs Oneworld Sapphire. Also do CX offer upgrades for cash at OLCI?

I assume you meant the HKG-LGW segment. There are many DMs and GOs on LHR flights, but many of the flies J anyway. I doubt if there are as many flying LGW, so I suppose your chance is good. Things change very fast during the last 2 days. So you won't know until you check in or at the gate.

I don't see any cash upgrade option at OLCI. You may to do that at HKG. As long as there are J seats available and CX can figure out the cash value of your PEY ticket, they will gladly take your cash over mileage redemption and op-ups. However, in most cases, you have to pay the difference between a full-fare J and your ticket fare.

Don't rely on seat map.

A better indicator, without EF, is to check if the airline (i.e. CX) is still selling the seat for that cabin.

They'll let you pay the fare difference, but no let's make a deal. Given you're in E class (unfortunately that's the least expensive PEY fare), the difference is likely to be very high. Probably a few thousand USD per person each way.
