I suppose if you're sleeping most of the flight, 20A isn't so bad, unless there's noise from proximity to galley? For my return flight, I have the option of 20K or 21K. Selected 21K for now but hoping some window seats in the main cabin open up closer to the time.

On the long haul flights to/from NA, I wouldn't be concerned so much about window shade battles. I've never seen anyone with the window shade open on the after midnight departures from JFK/EWR. The NY bound departures in the evening from HKG, is the same, window shades always closed sometime after the first meal service. FAs proactively come around after the meal service to close the shades. I've seen it happen in the daytime departures from JFK but only for a short time. I've sat in many different seats on the A359 and having single window in seats 20 or 16 never bothered me since I only have the shades open on take-off and landing. Not having 2 full windows just doesn't seem like a big deal when it's going to be closed for the vast majority of the flight.

Overall the J cabin on these TPAC flights is going to be very quiet, even when the cabin is full. Many times I sit in 12K on the A359, right near the lavatory and I'm not disturbed with pax using the lavatory. If you're anywhere else in the cabin, I don't envision a steady stream of pax using the lav during the flight. When my head is buried in the IFE with the headphones on, I don't notice anyone unless they are fussing with something at their seat or the overhead next to me. 12K can be a little disturbing as there is a storage bin for water right in front of the seat and the FAs frequently access.

I've sat in 20K a few times, and it's very quiet. There's very little activity on the 2nd galley. Once an FA told me that they would use that galley for PE pax but I didn't see evidence of it. It seems PE is being served out of the Y galleys. If there are PEY pax coming up to use the lav, I've never noticed it.

What I'm shooting for most, is to try and get a row in J where the seat next to me is not occupied. A few times in J, I've had a pax next to me, with their light on doing work. The directional light on the control panel can moved and It seems to always be shining into my seat when the pax next to me has it on. Any movements can cause flickering which is a little annoying when trying to sleep without an eye mask on. One of the reasons I go for 12K is I like being forward in the cabin and 11 D&G, which are almost adjacent, are almost always unoccupied. Row 19 is good for this also as it seems CX blocks 19 G/H for last minute sales or upgrades. If the cabin is not full, 19 G/H tend to be unoccupied.

For the lav in J, most pax tend to walk forward so if you're looking for quiet, I think it's better farther back in the cabin. On the A359, the J cabin isn't as long as the J cabin on the 77H/K so there's less pax knocking about.. Overall, I find it very quiet no matter where you sit in the cabin and in general most pax are either sleeping or watching the IFE.

Yes, Economy typically boards thru door 2L. J passengers board thru 1L. There can be lots of traffic, just like on other carriers where Econ walks down thru J. I always choose the forward cabin.

12A vs 23A/K on the 35K? I'm currently booked in 12A and those are the only seats left open. Biggest thing to avoid are missing or misaligned windows. There's a bassinet in 12A which shouldn't be an issue.

Is it worth trying the PEY seat on the A359? The time works better for me for the red eye 773 flight tho.

Flew CX157 HKG-BNE this week on the 359. I was in 14K and thought it was a great seat. The 2nd window was ever so slightly blocked by the seat structure for 12K. I found it to be much more private than I expected having just flown in from Colombo on an A330 in J.

I will say that 11DG look just AWFUL! They seem terribly exposed and that curtain would drive me nuts on a long haul flight. 12K didn't seem bad - but I did notice crew going into the cupboard several times during the flight.

Thoughts on the window seats vs center pair of J seats on the 359? They look fairly identical, but the window one appears to be a bit wider where the padding goes to the window. Is that right or am I seeing things?

Errr, is this accurate? I just booked a return flight out of EWR that flies the A350-900. One of the flights is wide open, I'm currently in 16K, rationale being no one's going to be walking past me to head to the lav (17-19 will go to the rear lavs in J, 12-15 will go forward :D). According to seatguru, there's not an issue with windows on this flight but according to this post from a little while ago, seems like it may be missing a window (assuming it mirrors the A side of the cabin)? Can anyone who's flown in this seat recently confirm? Thanks in advance![/QUOTE]

I'm catching the CX A350 from Manchester to HK.
Im wondering what the best A row economy seat is?-in terms of legroom and space,does any particular seat have an advantage?-and also number of windows?
I would have chosen the 60A seat near the exit,but i was honestly appalled when I read CX were charging £149 for them(per flight!).

Which A window seat is best?-is there any difference in legroom?

This is my first time I've flown Cathay Pacific,and I'm wondering what the best A row window seat is?-in terms of legroom,space and convenience.
I've considered the extra legroom seats 60A and 60K but was frankly appalled to see CX were charging, £149 for them per flight.
Any suggestions?
I would imagine though,that legroom is more of a problem on the 777?(Hong Kong to Cebu)

I liked 40A. I didn't want to pay and got it for free on online check-in 48 hours before. The alternative would have been 40K. £149 is just insane so if I were you I'd try to pick that or 60A / 60K as soon as the check-in opens. I think it's unlikely they'd all be taken.

The legroom was further than my legs stretched out (I'm 5'11), I still had a window, first served by the crew etc. The armrest can't be moved and the seat's an inch or two more narrow as your tray table / IFE is in the armrest but I thought that was worth it.

A60 on the Cebu to HK route is listed as "subject to change if someone with special needs requires it".
Does anyone know what this means and it happens often ?
I ended up booking 47 A on the flight from Man to HK...as seats were rapidly filling,and 46 A on the return flight.
I didn't want to take the risk of leaving it until Thursday and find out they're still charging nearly £148 for extra legroom seats-ludicrous!
I'm sure Emirates and Qatar dont charge these huge sums for extra legroom.

I think it is for people who have wheelchair or other special needs. Many seats are designated as priority seats, and I never had to move, although I'm an élite member, so perhaps that is also part of the reason.
