Anybody have experience in 33ABHK in PEY? Is the noise from the bassinet row that bad due to the misalignment?

J class mini-cabin or not?
I'm booked int J for HKG-EWR in November. I was originally booked in 21A, but prefer the right side of the plane. 11K was blocked but available as was 21K. I called MPC and changed my selection to 11K, but can still call and get 21K opened up. I do like the idea of the mini-cabin, but really in J, it's not that important as I feel private no matter what seat. Is there any downside to 11K vs. being in 21K all the way in the back of the section? |

Is there any downside to 11K vs. being in 21K all the way in the back of the section? I have had my best flights on these planes in the mini-cabin, but I will say they are less consistent. The main points of inconsistency are (1 of them is somewhere neutered if you're a CX elite): 1.) Last for service, which goes front to back. If you're CX Diamond, I find they service you still extremely well regardless in this case. 2.) Self-upgraders. Ironically, I find myself rooting against totally empty mini-cabins because I've seen in perhaps 10-15% of the time self-upgraders. It's just hard for the FAs with the aircraft config to patrol. 3.) PEY/Y class folks using the forward lavs. This is particularly bad on 77G, where the lav is literally in the cabin and essentially ruins the forward middle D seat (in the A333 and A350, the rear lav is on the right-hand side, but in both cases it's located inside the galley, ie "better"). FAs simply cannot patrol vigilantly enough to prevent this. 4.) Cabin crew using the J class mini-cabin as a rest area. This should *not be relevant* for the A350 since the plane has its own FA rest area in back, but it is an issue on the A330 which does not. On light-load A330 flights, ground staff are instructed to leave the mini-cabin open, and CX permits crew to sleep there. As an elite you can accidentally swap in (or force your way in), and it can be a pain in the butt to sleep. 5.) Noise levels....this is a good thing. If you don't care about #1 , and #2 and #3 don't happen too much (you're on A350, so #4 isn't possible), then the mini-cabin is superior IMO. Quieter vibe. As you search around, note there is one other mini-cabin in the CX fleet: the 77H mini-cabin (4 class 77W with F). This J class mini-cabin is forward, and has a totally different dynamic. The A350/A330/77G configs all have relatively the same mini-cabin dynamic. |
Bulkhead row 40 A/K or emergency exit 60 A/K ?
Its only for HKG-BKK. But wondering which is ok.... I find some bulkhead seats to be very constricting. The upside is that at least you'll be out first (after J and PE) instead of stuck out the back.. Has anyone else any opinion? |

Any idea about 12A? Got automatically this seat. The the rest of empty seat is row 19 and 20, should I change the seat?

I personally would not recommend 12A or 12K. The galley noise transmits straight into the cabin on such a quiet aircraft. And the cheap rattling toilet doors can be heard in the front of the cabin. This is exacerbated by the doors not fitting well so each sliding of the lock seems to happen three times each time the person tries to engage it.

Anyone have experienced 59ACHK? It will only be for a short flight with the wife. (MNL-HKG)

Hi Been trying to book 11D for an upcoming flight but it is blocked. We are a large party travelling with an infant so need to all be near the bassinet. I called to try and get 11D assigned but was told that this is not possible as the seat is blocked by the airport and therefore can only be unblocked at check in. They also said when a flight is not full 11D/G will typically be flown empty. Is is this correct? |

A related problem with those seats is, due to the galley config and a slanted curtain, passengers are kinda encouraged to stand in your seat space as they queue up for the bathroom. It's hard for me to describe without pictures but once on board you'll see what I mean. |
A350 Cx lgw to hkg
Hi all
i have read the posts and I am travelling pey lgw to hkg end of feb on Cathay there are two of us travelling and wanted to know best seats we wanted 30a and c or 30 h and K but I see that only the 30 k and a are available and the h and c are shown as bassinet seats and are unavailable is it worth booking one of us on the 30 a or 30k in the hope the bassinet opens up nearer the time and we bag the other one if not what are the other best two seats tobhave I see 33 is near economy and so noisy due to the offset position any advice appreciated Thanks |
Any of the PE seats on the A350 are ok. Row 30 does not have significant leg room against the others. You can call and get them to assign you to 30 C or H but if a baby lurks, you will have to be bumped

Was assigned 15A on IAD-HKG. How's the "misaligned window?" Worth calling in to move back a row or two?

None of us can say with any certainty. CX hasn't taken a single delivery of the A350-1000 plane type yet. The first is handed over in April and probably flown to HKG not until May.

EDIT - I didn't like 60K; it's claustrophobic, IFE in the armrest, luggage bin more problematic, further down the aircraft, close to the lavatory... The only advantage it has over 40A/K is the somewhat better view. For a three hour flight it was okay but I would definitely prefer the 40's. |
