Why no codeshare between CX and ferry? (Update: CX to codeshare with 8C (Cotai Jet))

I just did some dummy bookings from SYD. If I book a ticket that includes the ferry to Macau, the cost of the ticket is almost AUD 500 more than if I book a ticket only to HKG. And the ferry costs HKD570.
So why would you book this "code share"?
I've never transited via Sky Pier before, but from what I read, it seems like you can go to the ferry transit counter and they will pick up your bags and transit onto the ferry for you without entering HK?

Exactly, someone will take the luggage and you do not need to pass through HK immigration.
