Choose 1- Which combo of J,PE, and E
Hi FT-
I am traveling from west coast US to Perth Australia in Jan. I pieced together two itinerary's on Cathay and Malaysia using Alaska and BA points
The one I am currently booked on is
Jan 19- J from SFO to HKG 11:45am. 15 hour flight arrives Jan 20th 7pm
17 hour layover in HKG. Stay at airport Marriott?
Jan 21- PE from HKG to KUL 12:50pm 4 hour flight arrives Jan 21 4:50pm
Jan 21 Econ from KUL to Perth 6 hour flight arrive at 1:20am on Jan 22
I found same Itinerary on Cathay and Malaysia but a day earlier
Jan 18 PE from SFO to HKG 11:45am. 15 hour flight arrives Jan 19th 7pm
17 hour layover in HKG
Jan 20- J from HKG to KUL 12:50pm 4 hour flight arrives Jan 20 4:50pm
Jan 20 J from KUL to Perth 6 hour flight arrive at 1:20am on Jan 21
Both are approx 54 hours door to door including the 17-18 hour layover in HKG which is from from 7pm landing until almost 1pm the following day.
I need to be in Perth for a concert on eve of Jan 22. Obviously getting in a day earlier allows a day of rest but also adds a day of expense to an already month long trip.
Which combo would you pick to arrive in Perth and why? since I get in so late I am hoping to be able to sleep a few hours that night . Try and start my day around 10am and stay out and up to adjust.
Thanks in advance!

cool, thanks guys. That's what I am leaning towards. TPAC in J all the way.
Maybe something pops up on Cathay for that daily nonstop from HKG to Perth. I will check daily.

HKG-PER is ten times weekly.
Daily 1455 -> 2235
Thu/Sat/Sun 2240 -> 0640
Leaving the day before from SFO for connections. CX 879 to CX 137 is the shortest combination.
Happy wandering.

TPAC J class you should arrive fairly refreshed. I'd get a hotel in the city - you'd be there by 8.30 at the lastest. Easy, more interesting, and cost - depending on your required level of 'luxe' - potentially a lot less.
