transfer to CX in TPE

Hi all, got the following problem

Due to arrive into TPE on MH366 J at 14:05

Thinking of booking CX467 leaving TPE 15:20

so that leaves me with 1:15hrs there - do you think its enough time to do a transfer with baggage (realistically I think I will need to do this airside...)

IIRC MCT is 1hour? Its a bit annoying that OW don't do the interline anymore.

Last time I landed in TPE on an arvo I was behind two or three heavy PRC flights so I took a good 45-50 mins to get past immigration. So no.

Can't do airside transfer in TPE TTBOMK

Not to mention MH366 has a 50% chance of not arriving on-time http://www.flightstats.com/go/Flight...irportCode=TPE

If I were you, I would book a later flight departing TPE, and then go to the check-in counter and see if you can be moved (space available) onto an earlier flight. Usually works for me whenever I had to do this.

Does this work for the transit baggage too?

Under the new OW rule, unless your two flights are booked in the same PTR (so they allow you to do airside transfer) you have to clear immigration for bags and re-check-in again

Unless you have access to express immigration desk, don't ever dream about getting everything done in less than 2 hours

thanks all. looks like i'll book the later flight just to be safe.

some countries (like SIN) allow airside transfers with two PNRs.
Not sure about TPE (IIRC - they may allow, but may take 45mins+ to locate and retag the bags)

Indeed - it's been a few years, but I've done same plane turnrounds at TPE with an airside transit (which was within MCT, but being DM at the time, once I rocked up at the gate CX were happy to put me on the first available flight rather than the later one that I had booked to meet MCT). Baggage may make it a problem.

Hi wanted to update everyone on my experience at TPE today with airside transfer with baggage across two PNRs.

Airside transfer WITH baggage is very much alive and well. Time taken probably around 20-30mins.

So I came in on CX and had to transfer onto MH. I had 4 hours to spare and rocked up to the transfer desk (transfer desk A for MH - it's actually China Airlines who is handling agent). Gave them my incoming baggage tags and MH itinerary and they arranged new boarding passes and for bags to be retagged. Given the MH counters were not open yet I only received my boarding passes but they did say bagage tags would be given to me at the gate.

Ended up going into Taipei to buy Chia - De and almost not making it back for the MH departure! Lol. Incidentally also saw my bags sitting at the China Airlines office near the baggage carousels.

but this is just a data point - suppose what's not tested is what's the min time they would allow to take advantage of this service. Still sucks that OW and CX have stopped interlining across separate PNRs...

so ended up booking the CX 3:20pm departure with incoming MH flight scheduled to land 2:05pm. This was because I received new information (i.e. MH now allowing people to through check onto OW partners)

Incoming got delayed by ~35mins and only ended up at the gate at 2:47pm and CX flight boarded and departed early! Was met at the gate by a MH (CI really) agent who escorted me to transfer counter + security. They advised luggage probably would not make it though.

Still from bum off MH to bum onto CX was only 10mins! TPE is a handy place to transit if you know what you are doing in my view.
