Optimal Vantage Pass usage??

Dear all,

Wondering if anyone has done any research into the best combinations to take full advantage of the Vantage Pass that Cathay is offering from now until the end of June? Here is the info:

https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_HK/offers/flight/vantage-pass-2016.html

I need to take a Zone D flight to LAX in August, so I'm looking to see what the best Zone is to pair with this. It seems two Zone A flights offer big savings, but obviously I don't need two short haul flights.

Travel agent has said that these fare class is I.

My Marco Polo expires on August 31 so I'm looking to take the first leg to hit the next tier, then add the second leg in my next renewal cycle.

Grateful for any thoughts people have.

Try Maldives. If you do a normal HKG-MLE in Y it can cost you 6000+ HKD.
Its also medium haul which gets you 100TP with one trip if you need that.

If you work out the maths its:
Zone A = 3000 per trip
Zone B = 7000 "
Zone C = 18000 "
Zone D = 25000 "
Zone E = 50000 "

and while you often get 3000 HKD or 7000 HKD for zone A+B and you'll sit in economy, you can easily find better deals without this promotion for Zone D and E.

Thanks @mxr! Appreciate your reply. Wondering if I'm better off booking without the Vantage Pass then..

Well, booking ex HKG you won't find the 25000 HKD for LAX but if you need to be flexible then sscywong already gave you the answer to that.

I would still take advantage of this pas,s since my TA told me that its pretty much bookable up to a few days before departure.
Thus from now until the 31st June its unbeatable.
