Redeem for PE or pay for it?

I'll be flying from Toronto to Hong Kong. Tickets for PE is about 2600CAD and for Economy is 2100CAD. Is it a better deal to redeem my miles, which is about 27500 or pay the extra 500? Any thoughts?

One way only?
I would either redeem outright or purchase PEY directly.

I will definitely pay that extra for the PEY fare.... and save that for PEY upgrade to J if your class is 'R'.

I will redeem it.
Paying for PEY, to me, is just a way to get redemption upgrade to J only.

Agree to all

If it's R, buy PEY and try to redeem for J

If it's E... See what booking class is for Y... and then see if there's any club points difference and how much club points you needed
